Overview: UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE)
The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of India's most prestigious and competitive examinations, conducted to recruit candidates for services such as the IAS, IPS, IFS, and other Central Civil Services. The examination is conducted in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview), designed to assess a candidate's knowledge, analytical ability, decision making skills, and overall suitability for public service.
The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective papers: General Studies Paper I and CSAT. Candidates who qualify the Prelims appear for the Main Examination, which includes nine descriptive papers covering General Studies, Essay, Optional Subjects, and qualifying language papers. The final stage is the Personality Test (Interview), which evaluates a candidate's leadership qualities, communication skills, judgment, and aptitude for a career in the civil services.
